Question:| What does the "*" by my travel card and 800 number calls mean? |
| Calls with "*" represent calls that were made from a payphone. The federal government passed a law that all payphone calls made to 800 numbers must still be charged the 65-cent charge. We must pay this amount back to the payphone owners for use of their phones. So, if you deduct 35 cents from the total cost of each call, and divide by the number of minutes, that is the per min rate.
